A Message from Ms. Anna

Children and youth are the present and future of the church. Our NextGen Ministries at St. Peter’s by the Sea lives out this reality by preparing our children and families for the future in front of them and by walking with them through their journeys of faith. We take our calling seriously to be a safe place for all families to grow in faith and love together. Believing relationships are the heart of Christian faith, we prioritize being a community together.
Whether we have known each other for decades, or we have not met yet, I look forward to supporting you and your family.
Blessings,
Anna Sudeth
 NextGen Ministry Director

Sunday Mornings

Children are a welcome presence in Sunday morning 10:00AM Worship and are always welcome to remain in worship with their families. We also offer age-specific programing to meet the needs of children 5th grade and under. See below for invitations we have specifically for children 5th grade and under.

Infants-Preschool can be dropped off in our Nursery Center.

Children in Preschool-5th Grade are encouraged to attend Worship in the Sanctuary with their families and participate in the beginning of the worship service. They will then be excused for their own Church School in our upstairs education classrooms (during summer we meet outside on the lawn, weather permitting). Children will return to the Sanctuary to participate in Communion with the rest of the church family on Communion Sundays – the first Sunday of the month.

Available Sunday

Experienced and trained caregivers provide a safe environment for play and care for the youngest ones in our church family. Please complete our Childcare Registration Form and sign your child in every week in The Childcare Center (located adjacent to The Lawn.)

This age group begins worship in the Sanctuary with their families and then are excused during our Children’s Blessing to be escorted to their classrooms. Here, children learn about and experience God’s story and their role in it through various learning modalities. On Communion Sundays, children return to the Sanctuary to participate in Communion with the church family. All other Sundays, parents or designated persons may pick up children from their classrooms on the second floor of our education building.

Special Activities

Every Summer we offer a day-camp program for elementary age kids. With a unique and fun theme each year we draw closer to God and each other. The highlights of this special program include music, science, crafts, rec, Bible stories, and mission experiences all on campus at St Peter’s. The week is staff almost exclusively by our well trained and screened youth and adult volunteers. Get more information about this year’s VBS here

For our 3rd – 5th grade students we take a week each summer and take an adventure to sleepaway camp at Sherwood Forest at Calvin Crest Camp located near Yosemite National Park. The week of adventure is a truly special time for kids to get to know themselves, each other, and God in new and wonderful ways. Contact Anna@spbts.org for more details about this year’s camp.

Throughout the year we offer classes and groups to parents to support the incredibly important, and often time challenging, job they have of raising their kids in an every changing world. Connecting with other parents and field experts, families get a chance to find partners in their parenting journeys.

Children's Milestones

Bringing Baby Home milestone is a way St. Peter’s welcomes and celebrates the arrival of a new family member, honoring this joyous occasion through providing tangible support, including resources that equip families to establish their unique family culture that reflects God’s love.

We baptize children as a witness to the belief that God’s love claims us before we are able to respond in faith and as a sign and seal of God’s Grace in Christ. Parents and the congregation make promises during the baptism to fulfill their vital role of walking alongside each child on their journey of faith.

Start of School is a significant moment in a child’s life. St. Peters celebrates the start of this new chapter through prayer and public recognition for the entire family.

3rd Grade Bible Presentation recognizes the child’s growing ability to read and interact with Scripture, empowering parents and caregivers to support their child in establishing a love for, and interaction with, God’s Word.
