Men! If you like to sing, we have a place for you! Check this out...
The Men's Chorale at St. Peter's is comprised of men who enjoy the camaraderie of singing to the glory of God. Performing in four-part harmony, tenors, baritones and basses support activities at church and in the community by presenting hymns, anthems and secular music. As a major focus, the chorale sings at Sunday services, choral concerts and special religious celebrations. The anthem BE THOU MY VISION expresses our belief that God is our source of guidance and it has become the group's informal theme song which is often sung to conclude performances.
In addition to singing at St. Peter's, the Chorale serves members of the community by performing in retirement homes, at service clubs, at the 15th Street School in San Pedro, other religious denomination functions and the Presbytery. These concerts frequently include secular music with selections ranging from the wonderful harmony of the Civil War song SHENENDOAH to the barbershop sounds of BYE, BYE BLUES.
We are always interested in adding new members to the Chorale. Vocal requirements for members include the ability to match pitch and tone and have basic choral skills. Anyone interested in joining or wishing additional information should contact Jean Gothold, director at (310) 377-6882 ext. 227 or jean@spbts.org. Rehearsals are held in the Choral Rehearsal Room at 7:00 p.m. on alternate Thursdays from fall through spring.
